GEORGINA DAVIES - INTERIOR AND PRODUCT DESIGNER

Please give us a brief introduction of yourself Georgina?

I'm an Interior/ Product designer living in Mullumbimby with my partner and recently adopted puppy named Rain.

How would you describe your personal style and key wardrobe pieces?

I generally lean towards wearing alot of black. Most days, it's something oversized and comfortable but every now and then I get the urge to wear something insanely feminine. My everyday bag is a studded vintage pony-hair Diesel piece I bought from Etsy. My favourite shoes tend to be second hand finds that I've had repaired and resoled more times than I can count. I have a pair of brown loafers with a silver buckle that I bought for £10 at Portobello market over seven years ago and honestly I'll probably be buried in them.

Talk us through your creative process and your work as an Interior and product designer. How did this come to fruition?

It kind of all started during a flight to London when I read an article in the in-flight magazine about a biophilic art installation. When I landed I began researching biophilic design, which focuses on connecting people and nature within built environments. That concept opened my eyes to the deeper layers of Interior design and from there my curiosity and love for the industry grew.

When it comes to my creative process, it often begins with writing a quick note in my phone, followed by sketching out initial ideas. Then comes research, discussions with makers, technical drawings, and eventually prototyping. I've recently learnt that you can't rush this process, no matter how badly you want to reach the output.

Who inspires you?

My incredibly talented friends who share my workspace - they move through the world with both confidence and lightness, qualities that I admire very much. And my partner, who is probably the most naturally creative person I know.

What has been your favourite creative project to date? Talk us through the piece and inspiration behind it.

My exhibition Things to put flowers in (and on) at Braer was really fun. It was cool to think not just about the work itself but also the various elements that made up the exhibition - the layout, different vantage points, printed and digital assests, and even the window display in the lead up. Projects where I'm considering both the micro and the macro aspects seem to be my favourite.

Current favourite artist?

Grace Prince (@grace_prince) and Emma Creasey (@emcreasy)

Architecture inspiration right now?

I recently came across Convent La Tourette, designed by Le Corbusier in Eveux, France, and it really made an impression on me. The modernist rectangular facade, brutalist textures, and the use of primary colours. Everything about it just feels so right. It’s definately on my list of places to visit.

How do you plan to fulfill your creative desires for the rest of 2025?

Honestly, I don't think there is enough time in the day to fulfill all of my creative ambitions! I often feel overwhelmed with so many ideas, so little time but I'm trying my best to let this mindset go. That being said I am currently working on a few new pieces that I'm really excited to share!
